At the end of each season I tend to get bored with my clothes and I become uninspired.  I know we still have two months left of summer, but I am starting to tire of my daily casual style.  I am happy that school is starting soon to expand my wardrobe a bit.  When I get bored with my current clothes I try to mix things up and try to get creative.

To add some variation to my daily looks I have been trying to add a little pattern mixing.  In the fall I love to pattern mix and find that is easy.  Summer styles I find a little harder to bring in pattern mixing.  I think this is due to not wanting to layer because of high temperatures.  Plus the items are smaller!

What makes these double stripes work is the color palette and the different sized stripes.  When mixing like prints there needs to be a definite size difference in the patterns.  The fact that this tank has wide bands of colors versus the smaller stripes of the shorts makes it not look to busy.  There is a fine line when mixing prints, and I find that I walk that line like a tight rope!  How do you pattern mix?

I tend to get gravitate towards the same colors.  A lot of times I will get on a color combination and wear it nonstop throughout a period of time.  I noticed last week that I had been on a burgundy and blush kick lately!  I love the combination and have been wearing it non-stop.  Here are some of my favorite looks using my current style crush.  What color combination have you been crushing on lately?

Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone

Sometimes, I force myself to step outside my fashion comfort zone.  Normally the results are some of my favorite looks!  A few weeks ago, I was working off a the style challenge #pinstersistersfebruary2017!  I loved the look from 2/7 and wanted to wear it later that week.  If you haven’t checked out this challenge you need too!  I absolutely love this challenge!  Especially on days I have no clue what to wear!  It helps take out the guess-work on what to pair together!  Jro1583 and foreverhonestlyabe, two wonderful ladies, develop a week of visual prompts!  You can spin the look anyway you can imagine!

The morning that I decided to wear this look I thought I had it all planned out!  Unfortunately, when I got dressed that morning I was not in love with how my green vest looked with the buffalo plaid I had decided to wear.  It just didn’t look right.  I tried pairing my anorak jacket and still didn’t love the look.

I decided to dust off my denim vest that doesn’t get much love.  The denim vest was one of those purchases that Instagram helped me realized it was absolutely needed in my closet.  I love the way that it looks in so many outfits that I see, but I never think to pull it out.

I am so glad that I decided to give it a try though!  I love the 90’s feel that it gave to the look.  I remember wearing a similar look when I was in high school.  This is not my normal style, but I loved the way that it turned out.  Sometimes it takes pulling something out of the back of your closet to make you step outside your comfort zone and to fall in love with your outfit!  What ways do you step outside your style comfort zone?

Comm-Ci Leggings and Giveaway

One of my favorite go to outfits on the weekend is leggings and a top.  I love that leggings are extremely comfortable, but can still be worn in a way that makes me feel put together.  Comm-Ci leggings are so comfortable and flattering.  The material is thick enough to help smooth and yet lightweight so that they are comfortable.

Comm-ci Fashion was created by five women who lived a hectic, busy life.  They felt they never had enough outfits and sought an immediate solution that could provide them with a different look each day. They sought comfortable clothes, yet clothes that would be fashionable while fully shaping their body. Comm-Ci well-designed leggings provided the solution for these issues.

I am wearing the high-waisted, blue skinny leggings.  If you are wanting your own pair use code MANDYBAKER20 to receive 20% off or head over to my Instagram page to enter a giveaway to win your own pair!

Fitting Room Review: Old Navy

So this is technically not a fitting room review, but a closet review!  I ordered a few items last week with my Old Navy cash and the finally arrived!  Right now is the time to shop especially if you have Old Navy super cash.  If you don’t have cash they are still having 20% off your entire purchase using code SUPER.  There is also free shipping on orders of $25 using code FREESHIP!

I had been eyeing a ton of pieces during my no shop January, that I couldn’t wait to buy a few things.  I didn’t buy everything on my list, but here are a few items that I did get.

I’ve been on a graphic tee kick lately and this one is perfect!  I cannot start my day without my cup of coffee.  I have switched one of my normal cups to Skinny Coffee Club.  You can see the results of that here.  I love the fit of this tee and already have it in cue to wear tomorrow!  I ordered the size medium in this and like the slightly oversized feel.

This top had me very close to breaking my no shop January!  I love the stripes and the pop of color!  I ordered a size medium in this and also love it!  I think it will be in the rotation next week!

One of my favorite staple pieces is a zipped hoodie.  You add in stripes and I am a goner!  This one fits great and I am excited about wearing it on spring break in April!  I have a feeling it will be worn a ton in the spring and summer!  I ordered a size medium in this one also!

When I say this dress online I feel in love!  I waffled about buying it due the fact I have a similar colored Old Navy dress.  I ordered a size small, and it was a tad tight through the bust.  I was surprised since I have a very small chest.  I am not sure if I will exchange this yet or get a size bigger.

I have been on the hunt for a longer black cardigan for months now!  I was really excited when I saw this one online that it was a definite addition to my purchase!  This one is a size small and fits great!  I think a similar outfit will be on the horizon minus the workout pants and athletic socks!
