There is something about a gold sequined skirt that screams holidays to me! I have been on the search for the perfect one for the last few years, but haven’t been able to find one. I order a sequined pencil skirt from Loft earlier this year, but unfortunately my body shape is not meant for pencil skirts. I have a little too much in the hip section to be able to pull it off. I ordered this olive-green one and loved the color!

One evening I saw that Ann Taylor had half off and free shipping I decided to take a look around online. Thankfully I did, because I found this gorgeous sequined skirt. I don’t normally shop online at Ann Taylor since the prices are a bit above what I normally spend, but this was too good to pass up.
I also liked that this skirt was made in a regular and curvy fit. I decided to go with the curvy fit, because of my hips in a size 4. After trying the size 4 I think I could have sized down to a 2 in this fit. This skirt has a zipper in the back, but has a bit of an elastic waist that has some give. In the regular cut a 4, I am sure would have been perfect.
I had so many ideas on how I wanted to style this skirt, that I had troubles choosing which look I wanted to start wear first. With the holidays though I decided to wear buffalo plaid first. I loved how this look turned out! The buffalo plaid helped make this look a little more casual. As a teacher I can get away with looks like this at work. The kids love when you wear fun pieces like this skirt. One of my favorite part of my days is lunch duty and the kids tell me what they love about my outfit. It is fun to talk fashion with all the mini fashionistas!
For Christmas Eve dinner I am going to try to style this skirt with this lace top from Target. I think the high waist of this skirt will work with the crop top look. I haven’t tried it together to see if it works, but if not I will have plenty of other options. How would you style this skirt?
|| Hat: Lane 201 (old) || Jeans:Loft || Shoes:Nike ||We all have those days where we want to dress casually, but still want to love what we wear. On the weekends, I tend to dress a lot more casual than I do during the week. Both of my boys are involved in various sports, and I spend a lot of time running them from one activity to the next. We just finished the soccer season, and now we are moving to basketball. To say comfort is key is an understatement.

One of my favorite things to through on while lounging at home is hooded sweatshirts. Many of mine though are not cute enough for me to feel put together. This double hooded sweatshirt on the other hand is double the cuteness! I love the rich burgundy color that is perfect for fall and into winter. The grey lining of the sweatshirt brings in pattern mixing subtly for those who are weary of too many patterns.
This outfit I wore out trick or treating with my boys last week. It was cold here in Indiana so layers were a must! I think the key to making a casual outfit look put together is by making sure your hair is done and adding a few accessories. Whether you curl your hair or throw it up in a messy bun both looks can create an overall affect of put togetherness. Since it was chilly I decided to add a cute hat. How do you dress casual, but still feel cute?
When we were in Disney a few weeks ago we went to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Last year, I was surprised by the amount of adults in costumes! I decided to dress up this year, and brought pieces from home that could be interpreted as a Snow White costume. While hubby and I went on a day date to Disney Springs we decided to do a little shopping. In one of the shops we found the cutest Disney inspired dresses. Hubby talked me into buying this adorable apple dress! If you look closely you will see the dwarves faces in the apples! I am so happy that I got this dress! I received so many compliments, and even received an A+ on my dress from a Disney employee. Hubby needed up talking me into getting this dress and another one that I can also wear to school. I am excited that we are having costume parade this year so I can wear one of these fun dresses again! Would you dress up for Halloween at Disney?
Anyone else have trouble packing for vacations? I seem to have the hardest time packing for trips. I never know what I will feel like wearing on any given day and it stresses me out not having my full closet at my disposal. Last year, when we went to Disney I didn’t plan very well. Most of my outfits were based on cuteness not comfort. This year, I decided that I wanted to be comfortable and cute! I decided to try a capsule wardrobe. Here are most of the pieces that I decided to bring.
Let’s face it when you are walking between 15,000 and 20,000+ steps in a day you have to wear comfortable shoes. I have realized I don’t have the most comfortable sandals and athletic shoes are the best choice for me. If you have any suggestions on cute and comfy sandals I will definitely love the advice. When looking at Disney at what others wore I didn’t find too many cute sandals that looked comfortable. So I decided to stick to my Nike’s and Keds. With the basic colors I knew they would go with just about everything.
To plan what pieces I wanted to bring this time around I made a mental list of what were my criteria for my outfits. I wanted to make sure that the pieces I brought were interchangeable. I kept the idea of a capsule wardrobe in the back of my mind. The next criteria, I wanted was comfort. Temps while we were in Florida was in the high 80’s and low 90’s with the heat index close to 100. It was crazy hot!
As I packed I made sure to actually try on the pieces that I wanted to bring. I made sure that all the pieces went together and that I felt comfortable wearing them. There is nothing worse than putting an item on, only to realize it doesn’t fit. I also thought about each day and what our plans were going to be. This made getting dressed so much easier throughout the week. I loved my outfits that I planned and unfortunately I didn’t get pictures of everything. When you are on the go nonstop I didn’t want to make everyone stop for my #ootd pictures. What do you think of my Disney looks?

One of my favorite things to look for at the start of each season is what is trending. So let’s start talking about summer trends! Gingham is showing up all over Instagram and in stores! To see some of my favorite gingham pieces scroll down to the bottom of this post! Most of them are also on sale!
I found these shorts at Loft and knew that I had to have them. These shorts fit true to size. The length is perfect so you don’t feel like you are constantly having to pull them down. I decided for the inaugural wearing of these shorts that I wanted an easy and carefree look.
Since I have been trying to mix in older pieces lately, I decided to pull out this boho top from Target. I love the embroidery details along with the flutter sleeves. For my accessories, I decided to go for a bolder necklace. My monogram came from my sweet friend teacherannie. If you haven’t seen her Instagram page you need to check it out! To even out the accessories, I decided to add a bracelet stack from Centered Jewelry and my simple Kendra Scott Tima earrings. What is your favorite summer trend this year?
