Since January picks went so well I have decided to do another month of #lovingmyclosetagain! You can see my January picks here. I ended up keeping most of the items and purging a few more. I also did pretty well on shopping this month too. You can read about the items I purged, kept, and purchased here.
Most of the pieces I chose for February, I have had in my closet for over a year. They have only been worn once or twice. These pieces I haven’t given the love and attention they deserve! A few of these picks I have added because I am not sure if they still fit. I figured this is the perfect time to give them a try too.
So the rules to this challenge for those of you who are new are simple:
Choose ten pieces that you will wear in the month of February.
Then decide if you love that pieces or if it is time to let it go.
If you do not wear a piece decide if it truly deserves space in your closet.
If the answer is yes then move it to a more appropriate month to wear.
I hope that you all decide to join in. I would love to see your picks and if you decide to purge or keep your items. Post your picks on Facebook or Instagram and tag your pictures #lovingmyclosetagain.
This week has been extremely busy with something every night! Baseball and soccer have started for my oldest this week on top of a school concert and parent teacher conferences. In addition to all of that, I have been packing for spring break top in Florida with my family. I cannot wait for a whole week on the beach and sunny weather. Be on the look out for some guest blog posts while I am gone this next week! On top of that I get to see some of my favorite Instagram ladies before I leave for a girl’s night!
Every now and again, I love to play with pieces in my closet and style them in unexpected ways. This look from a few weeks ago was totally not planned, but I loved the outcome! For the wear what where style challenge for March the daily prompt was Moulin Rouge and I knew I wanted to add a touch of red to my outfit. I don’t have a ton of red in my closet so I decided to get creative!
I had this dress from Nordstrom’s that I had only worn once, because it is hard to sit on the floor while wearing it at school. I decided to see how it looked worn as a cardigan instead. I instantly fell in love with the look. The length is perfect with a dress underneath and adds visual interest.
The Carson Saddle Bag from Vera Bradley was the perfect addition to add a pop of color. I love the way that red and turquoise pair together. The colors are so bright yet contrast nicely together. I am thinking I may try this open front dress with a tee and distressed jeans soon. How do you wear pieces in unexpected ways?

Before Instagram, I had no I idea what monochromatic was. It was not a word that was in my everyday vocabulary. Thankfully my fashionista friends quickly introduced me to monochromatic looks! I don’t tend to wear monochrome looks very often, but when I do I love the outcome!
This monochromatic look was inspired by the weather we have been having in Indiana. I normally gravitate to bright colors when i am feeling down, but I decided to give this a try! I loved the outcome! This look was comfortable yet stylish! Perfect for a day at work! The tassel wrap sweater from Haute and Co. is definitely a staple piece that can be worn in so many ways! Check out how I wore athletic shoes with this top here.
I found these booties right before Christmas and decided to pass on them because of the price tag. After I left the mall I decided to take a look online to see if I could find them cheaper! So glad that I waited to buy these beauties! These Circus by Sam Edelman booties were a steal on Amazon for only $40! They are extremely comfortable and I cannot tell you the number of compliments I have received!
As with any outfit it is always about the accessories. I decided to keep my accessories simple by layering some new pieces. The longer necklace and bracelet is from Wink of Pink. The bracelet has been on constant repeat this week! I layered my necklace with some fun chokers from Ettika to keep the edgy look from these booties. Have your tried a monochromatic look yet?

The weather this week has been absolutely amazing! It has been in the 60’s and 70’s and sunny. For the first time in many years we had the perfect evening to trick or Treat! Here are my looks from this past week. There is a little bit of everything from layers, to tulle, to feminine details. Which outfit is your favorite?
This was my casual look from soccer last Saturday. I have become obsessed with layers and these Nike’s! They have been perfect for long days at the soccer fields! We finished our season this weekend in third place. The boys did a great job! I was proud of Ben for learning that being aggressive doesn’t mean being mean.
This Outer Grace tunic is the perfect mustard yellow for fall! It is comfy and perfect for layering with leggings! The icing on the cake with this tunic is the fact that it has pockets! This was a perfect Sunday look for church and running errands.
I decided to dress up for Halloween without wearing a costume to school. We have small class parties, but do not have full on costume parades. I thought the tulle skirt with lace up flats from Lane 201 would be fun! I had a few kids tell me I looked like a ballerina!
This midweek look was all about comfort! This top from Shein was the perfect comfy piece to layer with one of my favorite pair of leggings from Loft. These are a must if you are looking for pocketed leggings! A little bit of pattern mixing and a little bit of sparkle is a perfect combo in my book!
This look started off with a fabulous mustard cardi and minus the leggings. I’ve been loving the boot cuffs with boots and bare legs and thought this dress would be perfect styled this way. It really was the perfect fall look, until I climbed into the car. Once I sat down I realized that I needed leggings. The dress rode a little to high to be acceptable in polite company. Since it was such warm day I lost the boot cuffs and cardi. I still love the look and the dress!
Thursday evening, I got the opportunity to go to the I Love the 90’s Concert. This outfit was the perfect look. It combines so many of my favorite things. Neutrals, Burgundy, and gold! The concert was a ton of fun, but I realized that I am way to old to stay out that late and go to work the next day.
I get asked, why do I do clothing challenges all the time. People think that they make getting dressed harder, and take the fun out of making outfits. In fact, it is the complete opposite! I love how challenges help you step out of your comfort zone to try looks and challenges that you would never have tried before.
Take my look from this past week, the prompt from #junewearwhatwhere was Field of Greens. My first thought was how in the world could I mix the color green! First off, I don’t have much green in my closet, and secondly do I even have two shades of green I can mix. As I stared into my closet, I grabbed a few green items and started mixing and matching. At the end of a few options I came up with the above look! I would never have paired chartreuse with kelly green without today’s prompt. I am in love with the look and how it turned out!
So, if you are trying to step out of your comfort zone and get more creative in your looks, try a style challenge! There are so many out there that you can try one or a few! Let me know if you need help finding a challenge that works for you!
