I cannot believe that the 4th of July is almost here! Which means that my blog anniversary is right around the corner! One of my first blog post was inspiration for the 4th of July! You can read about the different looks here. I was never one to dress for the holidays, but since starting Instagram I have loved how others have used holiday colors for inspiration. When I received this Call Me Dot top from K.E.Y. Boutique I knew I wanted to create a 4th of July inspired look!
Here in Indiana, the 4th of July is always extremely hot! That means tanks and shorts are a must! When I started planning on how to style this top the polka dots reminded me of the stars on our American flag. With that, I knew that I had to add a pair of red shorts. These shorts from JCrew Factory are the perfect length. The elastic waist also helps for all the food I plan to eat! To keep with the Americana feel I added a simple pair of stripped Old Navy Flip Flops. With a few simple accessories for Sugar Fix this look is complete! What are you wearing for the 4th of July?
I have fallen in love with Karina Dresses. These dresses are extremely comfortable and wrinkle free! The fit is made with specific body styles in mind. The Penelope Garden Dress is perfect in fit and style. It is a great dress for an hourglass body shape, inverted triangle shape, triangle shape, oval shape, and rectangle shape! I love the colors and floral pattern.
I love this dress and how it can be dressed up with a pair of flats or heels. The pop of yellow and cobalt blue is a new pairing that I want to try again! This dress can also be dressed down with a jean jacket and a cute pair of white tennis shoes!

To be honest, Valentine’s Day is really just another day in our house. We don’t really do anything special to celebrate. Before kids we would go out to dinner and possibly a movie. Now that we are old and married, Valentine’s Day usually involves ordering out. It is a win in my book if I don’t have to cook dinner! I had some time this morning and thought it would be fun to outfit plan for Valentine’s Day! Maybe I can talk hubby into a date night! I love the idea of getting dressed for dinner and decided to play a bit in my closet to bring you three looks for Valentine’s Day. What outfit would you wear for Valentine’s Day?
This first look is one that I would wear out to dinner or to work. I love the pop of red that the pants bring to the entire look. The poncho and layered striped tee is incredibly comfy, but is dressed up by accessories and a fun pair of flats. The trim on this Baciano poncho is the perfect detail. This is by far my favorite look! If we do end up going out to dinner next weekend I will be wearing this! I love the colors blush and red together! The touches of leopard helps tie it all together. I find that you can add leopard touches to any outfit! A clutch is a great way to accessorize any look. This one from Simply9Designs is my go to accessory!
Day Date or Work:
When pulling items out of my closet to style, this skirt was the first one that came to mind. It is one of my favorites! I love the fact that it has pockets and fits so well! I wanted to figure out something I could wear to work that was appropriate. These flats from JuJus hadd the comfort that I needed, but still dressed up the entire look. To keep this outfit modest, I added a blush cardigan and kept it buttoned up!
I am teaming up today with Tiff from Bright on a Budget to bring you New Year’s Eve outfit inspiration! You can check out her look here! My New Year’s Eve is normally pretty tame and boring. Last year, we didn’t even make it to midnight. Most of our New Year’s Eves are spent at home or hanging out at a friend’s house. Since we are normally pretty laid back, I wanted to style an outfit that was casual yet comfortable. I decided to take one outfit and make it casual and a little more dressy.
This first look is perfectly casual and comfortable all rolled into one! For both looks I kept the main pieces the same, but changed out shoes and accessories. I started with my favorite skinny jeans and added this lace sleeved top from Lane201. Then to make the look a little more pulled together look I added my fur vest from Loft (currently 50%).
In this first look, I decided to keep the accessories minimal and to keep the shoes comfortable. Most of our time when we gather is spent in the kitchen standing around the island. If I am going to be spending long periods of time standing flats are a must! I love these over the knee boots from Nordstrom. They are extremely comfortable and are currently 40% off!
Not much changed in the second look. I switched out my accessories for bolder pieces. I wanted to add bigger earrings to make more of a statement. I normally would have added a little sparkle, but I decided to step outside of the box with this choker from Etikka. I love the simple elegance that it added to this look.
To dress up this look even more I added my favorite pair of Clark’s booties! If I have to wear heels they must be comfortable! These are my go to heels when trying to dress up a look, but still remain comfortable. This year, I am not sure if I will be wearing this look or if I will be staying home in my pjs. What will you be doing for New Year’s Eve and what will you be wearing?

Words cannot express my gratitude! Thank you, for allowing me to share my passion of clothes and fashion. I am constantly amazed that so many people follow along!
Here is a look at my Christmas Eve outfit. I love that we dress up for dinner and I get to pull out some of my heels I don’t wear that often! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends! Ours was one of the best and full of wonderful traditions!
We start with Christmas Eve dinner with my husband’s family at a local favorite Japanese restaurant. His family has been going for 32 years! This was a tradition that was started with his grandmother that we’ve continued even after she passed away. Now my grandmother is invited and joins in the tradition.
After dinner, we head to my parents house where the kids receive PJ’s from Santa. It is always crazy with all the kids filled with excitement! We are now up to 8 grandkids 9 and under! It is fun seeing them running around together and ripping into their presents!
Christmas morning is my favorite time! I absolutely love coming out and seeing the presents piled around the tree! That is one of my favorite Christmas memories from when I was little. I always hated when my brothers woke up ahead of me and sorted the presents before I woke up! Now my parents come to our house in the morning. I love that we still spend it together. I can’t imagine not having them there.
After the morning festivities, we head to my grandmother’s house. You never know what you are going to receive with my grandmother. She recently has downsized her house and decided to wrap up random presents for everyone to open. We received a flashlight and a photo album. Grandma this year, also wrapped up some of her shoe collection to share with some of us who were teasing her about her old lady shoes!
Then in the evening,we head to my husband’s parents house. This year, they switched things up for everyone by wrapping everyone’s presents in the same paper. The kids had to follow a legend and find all of their gifts. The kids thought this was a lot of fun!
I love hearing what others do for the holiday. What are your family traditions?
