One of my favorite patterns is polka dots and I cannot seem to get enough of them!  When I saw this adorable crop top from Shein I knew it was perfect for summer and to transition into fall.  It was also the perfect top to attempt to make crop tops appropriate for a 36-year-old mother! I decided to pair it with a high-waisted maxi skirt.  I have found when wearing this top that high-waisted items make it more comfortable for me to wear.  Do you wear crop tops?  If so how do you wear them?  I would love some more ideas on how to style this adorable top!

In the summer, we spend a ton of our spare time at the pool.  We are very lucky that my parents have one and only live two houses away.  Every now and again we take a trip to our local pool so the kids can play on the slides and diving boards.  It never fails they are always quite a few friends there also!

I have a few pool day essentials that are a must!  One being a cover up.  I tend to buy dresses and use them for dual purposes.  This dress from Shein also acts as an adorable cover up!  I love the tie in the back along with the embroidery details on the front and hem.  I like for my cover ups to be able to be worn in public while running errands, not just at the pool! This one covers my swimsuit perfectly, and is long enough to cover all the important parts.

I also love wearing hats at the pool.  As I have gotten older, I have become more concerned with sun damage.  I like to wear a hat to help shade my face from the sun.  I also use an SPF 50 sunscreen.  Another essential for me as many of you know is sunglasses!  I have to make sure I am wearing some anytime I leave the house.  Any kind of bright sunlight hurts my eyes.  To help keep them protected these adorable Vera Bradley glasses are the perfect pair!

My last pool accessory is a cute swim bag.  This straw tote from Vera Bradley is the best!  The print is adorable, and the size is perfect.  It holds towels, sunscreen, and of course snacks perfectly.  It isn’t a pool day without these essentials.  What are your poolside essentials?

All Buttoned Up

We are a week into summer break, and I am loving every moment!  I have been catching up on housework and decluttering! It hasn’t been all work though.  On Monday, we went to the zoo with our cousins.  It was our first trip of the year!  We are very blessed to have an amazing children’s zoo.  It is always fun to go and see what changes have been made since the previous year.

One of my favorite summer time looks is a crisp button up with a pair of distressed denim shorts.  I was excited that the weather was going to be a bit cooler so I could wear this perfect button up from Shein.  When I ordered this top I sized up to a large so I could wear it with leggings or skinny jeans.  The top hits me mid-thigh when it is untucked.  You can see how I styled it with colored jeans here.

For me clothes have to be comfortable.  I know, I know I sound like a broken record.  I learned long ago, if what I am wearing is uncomfortable I am less productive.  This probably sounds odd I know, but uncomfortable shoe makes me want to sit.  While tight clothes make me self-conscious.  These Chucks were an easy choice for a trip to the zoo.  My boys practically run through the zoo, and this momma has to keep up!

When out with the boys, I like to make sure I have both hands free.  Hubby and I always said two was perfect for man-on-man defense.  Also, when I am out alone with them I have one hand for each.  As they have gotten older this has gotten to be less of an issue.  I still love bags that I don’t have to fuss with.  This Big Sky Backpack from Vera Bradley has become my go to mommy bag!  It holds plenty of snacks, and of course all of my necessities!

In the summer, I like to keep my accessories simple.  I like delicate pieces that can be worn alone or layered.  I have become obsessed with Sugar Fix earrings!  They make a statement, but are still simple enough to wear everyday!  My Vera Bradley sunglasses are a constant accessory.  I don’t leave the house without them!  How do you like to accessorize in the summer?

How to Transition into Spring

In typical Indiana fashion you don’t know what the weather will be like from day-to-day.  The temperature will vary anywhere between warm 60 degree temps to cold  30 degrees.  If you are anything like me you are wanting to begin switching your closet over and begin dressing in all of your spring clothing!  Here are a few ways that I dress for spring when the weather won’t cooperate for dresses and sandals.

Tip # 1 Wear lighter colors

I love lighter colors for spring.  Neutrals are definitely my go to color when I am ready for spring.  This sweater from Shein is perfect to transition into spring.  It has fun zipper details that adds interest.  I like to keep my clothing lighter so I can add fun pieces to brighten up my look.

Tip # 2 Add Bright Accessories

I love to help brighten up my looks for spring with accessories.  Purses can be the perfect pop of color.  The Carson Saddle Bag from Vera Bradley is gorgeous and perfect for every day use.  The turquoise color goes with just about anything!

How do you dress for spring when the temps are not quite ready to change?
