This past week I returned to work after a long glorious summer home with my boys. I needed easy and comfort for this week since the transition is usually a little rough. It was even harder this year since I sent my youngest off to kindergarten. I didn’t think I would cry, but I can’t lie I shed quite a few tears. I decided to make this week easy to get ready by wearing dresses all week.

Let me introduce you to Ruby. She is in my mind the perfect dress from Karina Dresses. There are so many reasons why that she is my favorite. Ruby is always ready to be worn and never has wrinkles. She makes you feel like you are put together, yet is incredibly comfortable. Ruby is unassuming, and figure flattering for most body types! The faux wrap style gives you the look of a classic wrap dress without all of the hassle. The sash at the waist helps enhance your curves in all the right ways. Ruby is also perfect for a day at the office or an evening out.
The simple geometric print is full of rich fall colors. The light purple and cream help make this dress perfect to transition from summer to fall. It looks perfect with a pair of summer flats and a lightweight cardigan. I can’t wait to try wear it in the fall with tights and boots. What is your go to style on crazy weeks?
I know that many people who follow along are not teachers, but my mind right now is in back to school mode. School begins on Monday, and I can’t believe that we are starting already. Do you remember being in school and loving getting new notebooks and pens? I still get excited over shopping for new supplies. When school supplies arrive in stores, I still search for the perfect notebook and planner. Of course as a self-proclaimed shopaholic I love shopping for back to school clothes. Here are some closet staples that I think every professional female needs in their closet! It doesn’t matter if you are a teacher or work in an office. If you have to dress up these items are a must. Most of my picks come from my 3 favorite stores Loft, Old Navy, and Nordstrom.
When picking out what categories I felt were closet staples, I thought about pieces that have been in my closet through multiple seasons. I also tried to choose pieces that could be easily mixed and matched with each other to help expand your closet. What are your closet staples you can’t live with out?

The power of the cardigan is amazing. They are perfect for all seasons and can make an outfit totally different. It always amazes me how often I find myself grabbing for a cardigan. When I look at the different areas of my closet, the biggest section of my closet is hands down cardigans. They are a closet staple that I feel gets the most use for me. In my mind you can never have to many! This section is also the hardest for me to get rid of anything. You never know when you need a certain color, length, or weight!

When shopping I love to find clothes that can pull double duty for me. What I mean by that is clothes that can be worn to work and at home! This dress from Gray Monroe fits this profile perfectly for me! I love the fun and carefree print along with the flowy fit. The best part about this dress is the fact that it has pockets!!!
While this dress is perfect for a summer day it is not perfect for school. The spaghetti straps are just a bit to small to be work appropriate. Here lies the power of a cardigan. I love how just adding one pieces make it perfect for the work environment! I could have added a plain black cardigan or a fun color, but I wanted to play around with some pattern mixing. The monochromatic colors are perfect for tying the look together. Since the cardigan is mainly black with this white stripes it helps to enhance this dress versus compete with it.
Unfortunately, this dress is sold out already. When searching the website though I found so many dresses that can pull double duty just by throwing on a cardigan! Here are some of my favorite styles! You can shop all the cute styles here. Which one is your favorite?
This week has been extremely busy with something every night! Baseball and soccer have started for my oldest this week on top of a school concert and parent teacher conferences. In addition to all of that, I have been packing for spring break top in Florida with my family. I cannot wait for a whole week on the beach and sunny weather. Be on the look out for some guest blog posts while I am gone this next week! On top of that I get to see some of my favorite Instagram ladies before I leave for a girl’s night!
Every now and again, I love to play with pieces in my closet and style them in unexpected ways. This look from a few weeks ago was totally not planned, but I loved the outcome! For the wear what where style challenge for March the daily prompt was Moulin Rouge and I knew I wanted to add a touch of red to my outfit. I don’t have a ton of red in my closet so I decided to get creative!
I had this dress from Nordstrom’s that I had only worn once, because it is hard to sit on the floor while wearing it at school. I decided to see how it looked worn as a cardigan instead. I instantly fell in love with the look. The length is perfect with a dress underneath and adds visual interest.
The Carson Saddle Bag from Vera Bradley was the perfect addition to add a pop of color. I love the way that red and turquoise pair together. The colors are so bright yet contrast nicely together. I am thinking I may try this open front dress with a tee and distressed jeans soon. How do you wear pieces in unexpected ways?

I have been dreaming of spring this week and of lighter layers. I love coats, but hate wearing them. They are bulky and a pain when you are running errands. I’ve been wanting to wear my lighter weight jackets and layers. Moto jackets are in again this year, and there are so many different ways that you can style them.
This Tessa Leather Jacket from Haute Shop Co. is Vegan leather and extremely soft. The asymmetrical zip closure, pockets, and zip detail on sleeves give this jacket little details that are perfect. I am currently wearing a medium. Use code MUSINGS20 for 20% off your purchase
1. Pair with a tunic
If you are wanting to add a little structure to a tunic adding a moto jacket will help define your waist. It will also keep the over all look streamlined. The Blooms Mini-dress is the perfect color contrast. The florals add a famine touch the masculine leather.
2. Boots and Tee
This look is one of my favorites for a night out for dinner. It is simple, classic, and comfortable. The leather jacket dresses up the simple white tee with the help of accessories.
3. Athletic Shoes
This was a perfect look for my boys’ basketball game. The gym is usually hot and dressing in layers is a must. The simple white tee is definitely dressed up with a scarf and jacket. The neutral colors are one of my favorite color palettes!
Which look is your favorite?
