Ketchup and Mustard

Hello!  I can’t believe how long it has been since I have written a post!  In April, we went on spring bring to Florida.  Once we returned baseball started for both of my boys, and soccer for my oldest.  I have learned my lesson of doing two sports at a time!  Most weeks we have baseball every night, and our weekends have busy.  With the end of our school year this past Wednesday, I feel like I am finally able to breathe!  I feel like a huge weight has been lifted and I can finally get caught up!  Have you ever get like this?

With the holiday weekend, we decided to clean up our landscaping.  We spent Saturday laying mulch, planting flowers, and filling my raised garden with dirt.  The idea of having my own vegetable garden is exciting!  Hopefully, I don’t kill anything!

I’ve always shied away from yellow and red figuring it looked like ketchup and mustard.  With the anything goes with fashion lately I decided to give it a try this weekend for a family cookout.  I decided to try it with a just a subtle touch of yellow so it wasn’t such an overt statement.

This darling top from Old Navy is actually from the girls section.  So many of the girls I follow on Instagram have shared they get some of their clothes from the girls section.  When I saw this top I decided to give it a try.  I was surprised to find that the extra large fit great!  I had to unbutton the top button because of pulling, but other than that it fit great!  I also got it in pink!  Where do you find unexpected items?

When I saw the Victoria Beckham line for Target I was adamant that I was not going shopping.  The items were adorable, but I had made the decision that I needed to cut back on my shopping.  I resisted until that evening when I went out of town for work and we had to stop at target.  I got the cutest lace bomber jacket.  Then, my sweet friend, Amanda from abcmomstyle got the bee scarf and I feel in love.  My first trip to my Target yielded no scarf, but my persistence paid off!  When I ran in real quick last weekend to grab some things for the boys’ Easter Basket I found this on on the rack.  It was the last one and you can bet I snatched it up!

I’ve been wanting to wear this scarf since it came home with me.  I love how it pairs with the Nina Eyelet Dress from Lavish and Luxe Boutique.  I don’t usually gravitate towards this color, but I wanted to give it a try!  I am so glad that I did!  The yellow and green colors are so fun together!  The fit is a swing style and is incredibly comfortable!  Use code MANDY15 for 15% off!

Lip Sense: Tips and Tricks

Outfit Details || Top: Loft || Shorts: Loft || Cardigan: Old Navy || Sandals: Blowfish || Purse: Simply9Designs || Necklace: Kendra Scott ||

I was contacted in November to do a review on Lip Sense which you can read here.  Since then I have learned some tips and tricks that have made me love lip sense even more!  The above picture was taken at 9:00 am before a busy day.

  1.  Make sure you lips are clean!  When I brush my teeth in the morning I make sure to run my toothbrush over my lips to help exfoliate.  Then before I apply my lip color I use the oops remover to make sure they are clear of any residue.
  2. Shake your lip sense.
  3. Apply to entire lip when applying.  I tend to have wearing on the inside of my lip first.
  4. Do not use too much product.  I had flaking when I first started using due to applying to much. Thin coats are the key!
  5. Keep applying the lip gloss throughout the day.  This helps to keep the color lasting longer.
  6. If the inside of my lips start to fade I add 1-2 layers just in that area.

If you are interested in trying lip sense contact @xoxolipstickjunkie on instagram or on Facebook.  Thank you for giving me the chance to try party pink! It has made me step outside of my comfort zone.  It is such a great color for spring and summer!

Taken at 11:00 am after a trip to the grocery, and brunch at my moms.

Taken after first baseball practice at 2:30.

Last picture was taken on the way home from the second baseball practice at 4:45.  The lip color still looked great after being in the sun all day!  Senegence has condensed its color selection to the top 36 colors to make to help better keep up with demand.  Below are the current colors that are available!

Lacy Stripes: Loft Sunny Lace Skirt

Hello Mandy’s friends! I’m Elsie from Polished Whimsy blog. I am honored to be sitting in for Mandy today. Mandy is a great resource and friend, so I am thrilled she trusts me to post on her blog!

When Mandy asked me to guest post on her blog, I knew immediately what to write about. I had recently purchased the Loft sunny lace skirt and have been itching to style it. Because I know how much Mandy loves Loft, I thought this would be the perfect outfit to share in my guest post.

During my outfit contemplation, I decided to bring in some spring trends. Therefore I paired the skirt with banker stripes. I love how the warm yellow plays off of the cool blue stripes. Similar to Mandy, I also like to pattern mix. So, I had to take the opportunity to do so here. Therefore I chose to wear a floral print shoe.

This may seem like a lot going on in one outfit, but I assure you that it works. You see I come from the What Not To Wear philosophy. Did any of you watch that series? Basically the hosts recommended wearing color, pattern and texture in an outfit to provide visual interest. Well folks, that is exactly what I’ve done here! I have color and texture in the skirt and patterns in the shirt and shoes.

To coordinate with the outfit, I chose a light blue handbag. The color of the purse unified the blue in both the shirt and the shoes. It also allowed the Loft sunny lace skirt to be the pop of color and thus the center of attention.

For other accessories, I kept it neutral with some gold pieces. I chose fun gold tassel earrings and a pendant necklace. Then I coordinated with a neutral watch and gold cuff bracelet. You can’t see it but the watch hands are blue! Silly, I know, but that little detail makes me so happy!

I hope you enjoyed my outfit with the Loft sunny lace skirt. I can’t wait to play some more with this skirt. Next I will try pairing the skirt with purple, won’t that look regal? If you have other outfit suggestions for this skirt, let us know in the comments!

Thank you Mandy for allowing me to step in and write for your blog. It has been a true honor! Bye friends!
